Vicky McClure gave a far from cryptic response when put on the spot about whether there'll be another series of Line of Duty, after being given an 'interrogation' from Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard.
The much loved actress, last on screen in new ITV thriller Trigger Point, joined her fellow AC-12 member Martin Compston for an appearance on GMB on Friday, as they prepare to do battle on opposing sides for this weekend's Soccer Aid. Scottish actor Martin will once again line up for the Rest of the World team, while his Line of Duty co-star Vicky is on the coaching staff for England.
But, before they got into how their preparations for Soccer Aid were going, GMB presenter Ben had more pressing questions to ask, and took on a Ted Hastings-esque demeanour, with co-host Kate the Patricia Carmichael of the equation as they put Vicky and Martin on the spot about Line of Duty's future.

Speculation that there will be another series of the smash hit BBC drama was recently fuelled by Martin and Vicky both posting a picture of him and Vicky with co-star Adrian Dunbar and the show's creator Jed Mercurio on social media. Jumping on that, Ben asked "Can we just establish that the three of you, because I know that Adrian has been quite outspoken saying he would do it; the three of you would be straight back if Jed could be persuaded to write a new series?"
Without any hesitation, Vicky replied: "Yeah, we'd all go back..is that what you said sorry?" She added: "We adore working with each other, we adore working with Jed; his writing is phenomenal. We've been working together for over 10 years now. The last series was incredible in terms of the response we got, but it was really quite tough to shoot within Covid, so it would be lovely to go back and not end on that kind of note."
Martin added: "For a sociable night out is not a reason to commission a whole new series, but it's such a sociable job; the crew hanging out. I think we were the first job back after Covid and we couldn't see each other; we couldn't hang out at night or anything, so it wouldn't be a great way to end it."
