Ben Doak latest from Liverpool after former Celtic talent 'collapses' following sickening head clash

Liverpool have alleviated any fears surrounding former Celtic youngster Ben Doak after he was spotted in a nasty head collision.

The teenage forward was competing for the Reds in a UEFA Youth League quarter-final match against Sporting Lisbon, where medics had to attend to him urgently after a sickening knock with an opposing player. Doak rose to head the ball and after staggering away from the incident, eventually dropped to the floor as first aid rushed to the scene.

He was able to make his way safely off the pitch a short while after as Liverpool lost 1-0 against Portuguese opposition, but the welfare of their promising starlet who was signed from Celtic Park last year became a priority. Touted in some quarters for a Scotland call from Steve Clarke in the future, Doak has made senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp's Premier League giants this term. U21s head coach Barry Lewtas said: "Ben is okay.

"He obviously couldn't continue but our medical staff got to him quickly. He was on the pitch at the end with the lads and we will keep him closely monitored."
