Ben Doak was left with what appeared to look like a burst lip as Liverpool's UEFA Youth League clash with Porto ended in a furious rammy.
The Reds secured their spot in the next stage of the competition via a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in normal time. Jorge Meireles won and converted a spot-kick for the Portuguese side before Melkamu Frauendof levelled in the second period to force the tie to the lottery of penalties. Luca Stephenson scored the decisive shot from 12-yards as Jesus Diaz hit the crossbar.
But things descended into chaos as the Celtic youngster got caught up in ugly scenes as Liverpool went to celebrate their shootout win and passage to the quarter-final. As his team-mates rushed to goalkeeper Harvey Davies, things broke out into a rammy.
He was dragged away by his team-mates and appeared to have blood on his lip in scenes that took the shine off a big night for the young Reds, who face Sporting Lisbon in the last eight of the competition. They fired six successful penalties in a row after Doak had hit the post with the first penalty.
The Scotland Under-21 cap didn't seem flustered by the scenes as he took to social media to post a celebration picture with the caption: "On to the quarters."
It's been a stunning year for Doak who has made both his top team debut against Derby County in the Carabao Cup but also his English Premier League bow.
He was also handed his first professional contract at Anfield with the supporters and coaches really excited with the young prospect they have at their disposal. It was also another game in the legs for the youngster as he continues to prove his fitness after an injury spell. Last time out he netted twice and played a major role in two other goals as Liverpool hammered Leicester City.
