Housebuilder Bellway has submitted its final proposals for a new development of homes in Somerset. Sedgemoor District Council approved the outline plans for the 3.2-acre site off Houlgate Way in Axbridge in January.
The scheme, which will be known as Lavender Rise, will include 38 four and five-bedroom houses for private sale and 15 two, three and four-bedroom affordable homes available for local people or key workers through low-cost rent or shared ownership.
Under the plans, Bellway will also build a new public car park, next to Axbridge Surgery, as well as new footpaths. It will also contribute £12,000 to fund green travel vouchers for new residents.
A new play area will be created off Houlgate Way and a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) payment of around £610,000 will be paid to the local authority to fund education and infrastructure improvements.
Sam Sowden, land director for Bellway South West, said: “Our plans for Lavender Rise in Axbridge will create a neighbourhood of highly desirable homes and our developer contributions will bring a significant investment in the area too.
“There is increasing demand for new homes in the South West and this site is just one of a number of land purchases that we have completed recently where we plan to help meet the local housing need."
Bellway acquired the land in Axbridge in June. It also recently bought land in Willand, Tiverton and Crediton, in Devon, and Hilperton, in Wiltshire.
The housebuilder also has other developments under way in Somerset, including Mead Fields in Weston-super-Mare and Peregrine View in Cheddar.
