Craig Bellamy has endorsed Billy Slater as a NRL coach, saying he won't need an apprenticeship. (AAP)

Stopping short of endorsing Billy Slater as his successor, Craig Bellamy says the former star fullback doesn't need to complete an apprenticeship before becoming a NRL head coach.

Bellamy is yet to make a call on whether 2022 will be his last as Storm coach before moving to a director of coaching role with the club.
