Belfast Road crash claims life of man in his 20s

A man in his 20s has been killed in a road crash overnight in a crash near Fivemiletown, the PSNI has confirmed.

The man has been named as 28-year-old Liam Mulligan from the Fivemiletown area, whose silver Mercedes car was the only vehicle involved in the collision according to the PSNI.

A spokesperson for the PSNI confirmed that the deceased had died at the scene due to his injuries.

"Police can confirm that 28 year old Liam Mulligan, from the Fivemiletown area, has died following a one vehicle road traffic collision on the Belfast Road, near Fivemiletown, in the early hours of Tuesday 4th April," a statement said.

"The single vehicle collision, involving a silver Mercedes car, was reported to police shortly before 2.15am on Tuesday morning. Liam sadly died at the scene due to his injuries.

"An investigation into the collision is underway and officers would appeal to anyone with any information which can assist with their enquiries, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 100 04/04/23."

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the main A4 Belfast Road between Fivemiletown and Brookeborough shortly after 2am on Tuesday.

The single vehicle collision took place on the main road, near the Clogher Valley Golf Club.

The A4 road near the Tyrone and Fermanagh border was closed for several hours on Tuesday, but has since reopened.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it had received a call about the incident at 2:14am.

A NIAS spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 02:14 on Tuesday, 4 April 2023 following reports of an RTC in the Belfast Road Area, Fermanagh

"NIAS despatched an Ambulance to the incident. No one was taken from scene."
