Belfast gives Lewis Capaldi the love as he serenades sold-out crowd at SSE Arena

Lewis Capaldi has taken over the music industry over the last number of years and it is no surprise that his Scottish charm, hilarious banter and undeniable talent have translated to Northern Irish crowds.

Having wowed at the Ulster Hall and impressed at a sold-out Belsonic crowd last summer, he took to Belfast's biggest stage on Sunday and, of course, did not disappoint.

Playing the SSE Arena in his largest Northern Ireland show to date, those who were lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket can agree that there is something special when the music starts and Lewis opens his mouth.

Kicking off the show with new hit Forget Me and following straight into Forever the fans erupted and did not stop the entire night.

Calling his Belsonic gig one of the best on his previous tour, Lewis promised to match the energy of that gig - and he definitely did just that.

Lewis has the mark of a true performer being able to keep a crowd of this size transfixed the entire time. Having been lucky enough to see Lewis at the Ulster Hall in 2020, I wasn’t sure if that intimate feeling he created at the show would translate in a venue as big as the SSE - his voice absolutely filled the arena just as it did back then.

The mixture of new music and his classics like Someone You Loved and Before You Go was the perfect tonic for a Sunday night in Belfast and most definitely cured any hangover being experienced in the crowd.

Of course alongside the insane talent he exudes, the gig was filled with his humour and personality - it felt like watching one of his TikToks live and in person.

I walked into the SSE already a massive fan of Lewis and got in my taxi after counting down the days until I was next seeing him at Belfast Vital.

Playing his newest hit Pointless for the first time in NI, he teased what is to come when his new album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent drops in May and the crowd were loving it.

If you are lucky enough to be seeing Lewis at any of his other tour dates or have secured tickets for his Belfast Vital gig, prepare for serious sounds and serious craic!
