Belfast artist's impressive work gets approval from Conor McGregor

A West Belfast man's art is being spotting across the globe, after he started a career from his family home.

Aidan Cregan, who lives in the Glen Road area, owns AC ART and now produces impressive paintings and gifts from a new studio on the heart of his community.

And while he celebrates all the small wins a business owner achieves, a huge moment in his career was meeting Conor McGregor and showing him an AC ART piece of the UFC star.

Speaking to Belfast Live, the 27-year-old said he has always dreamt of having somewhere he can invite people to for commission collections.

"I went to art college and after two years, work was getting busy on the side so I dropped out," he added.

"A lot of my business comes from Scotland and I know it was a risk to go full time with my work but I was getting orders in, so I bit the bullet and went for it.

"I was at a Conor McGregor event at The Devenish one night and it was brilliant - I knew a guy who was running it so I chanced my arm and got to meet him. I drove up home, grabbed a piece that I had worked on, and showed it to McGregor.

"That was a special moment for me. The art had been commissioned and sold to a guy in London, but to be able to show my work to someone like McGregor, was amazing. He loved it and was just so grateful that I had done it.

"From this, things really started to take off, and I began to expand my work to t-shirts and mugs."

Aidan's work is mainly portraiture work with his own spin on faces - he would spend a number of days working on one piece of art.

And as a huge Celtic FC fan, a lot of his work has been shipped to Glasgow, with the AC ART t-shirts standing out in the crowd on game days.

"At the start, when you begin a piece, you wonder 'where is this going to go?' and then by the end, you see it and you know it was worth it," he added.

"There was a Cup Final match last year and there were so many tops in the crowd. It was a class feeling to see my work there. Just unreal to see how many people are supporting me with this.

"West Belfast has been brilliant to me too, the community has just been so supportive and I can't thank them enough."
