Belarus releases 25 political prisoners in exchange for lifting of US sanctions on two companies

Belarus has released 25 political prisoners in exchange for the US lifting sanctions put on two Belarusian companies, in a deal was brokered by US envoy John Coale who was in the capital Minsk.

Coale announced the release of prisoners, describing it as "As a sign of goodwill", in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. He indicated further talks could lead to "a further release of individuals and additional sanctions relief".
