Wor Flags have been back in St James’ Park since October and every home since then has been a display. The group have rightly been getting plaudits for their pre-match banners - including from the owners and Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.
For the latest game against Crystal Palace, the group set up a tribute to Allan Saint-Maximin with gold foil placed on seats in The Gallowgate and a banner of the Frenchman flown too. Saint-Maxmin thanked fans for their efforts.
Chronicle Live was lucky enough to see the preparation that went into the latest display as The Everything is Black and White Podcast caught up with Wor Flags at St James’ Park in the days before the Crystal Palace game. In a special episode, Andrew Musgrove spoke to the volunteers from the group about the small details of displays and the commitment it takes to make sure everything goes well.
Speaking about the donations from fans, Thomas Concannon said: “I just want to say thank you. You make this happen.
"Especially now, times are getting hard for people yet when we put out pleas for donations - they fly in. We've got people setting up direct debits, it's incredible. Without them, it doesn't happen."
