Fire engines were pictured spraying a tower block in Bedminster today (July 7). Passers-by may have been alarmed but the fire service has explained what was going on.
At least one fire engine was spotted at Southbow House on Duckmoor Road at around 12pm. It was still there more than an hour later, although no smoke was spotted coming from the high-rise.
The fire service has explained the reason for its presence there. In a statement, Avon Fire and Rescue Service said the operation was a training exercise which helps them to prepare in the event of an emergency.

The fire service added: "This is a part of our firefighters' annual training schedule, where they visit properties in the local area to ensure they have the correct access to the buildings, understand the availability of water in the area and record any unique access requirements to ensure we are well prepared in the case of an emergency."
