What is believed to have been a large grass snake has been spotted slithering through a country park in Nottinghamshire. The grass snake, understood to be common in Rushcliffe, was seen in the borough's country park one evening in May.
The large reptile, green in colour, happened to slither into the path of Ruddington resident Pam Pearce. She managed to record the stunning spectacle before it disappeared into the long grass.
Grass snakes typically hibernate throughout the winter months, as do most reptiles, and venture out into the wilds from April. This larger snake, thought to have been female due to its sheer size, had most likely just recently come out of hibernation.
