Entrance to the rural retreat includes a very attractive converted coach house (Google maps)

The attractive house was built around 1800. In 1922 it was bought as a vicarage for All Saints Church and then reverted back to private ownership in 1940.

The house was awarded a Grade II listing in 1960, amended in 1996, for being 'one of a group of late 18th century - early 19th century substantial houses in the centre of Glasbury and of group value in the conservation area'.

The attractive red, blue and yellow brick coach house that looks out over the village green and is part of the entrance of the house, along with an impressive brick columned gateway, was listed Grade II in 1996 for its 'group value with the listed Parc Gwynne, and with other listed buildings in the Conservation Area around the green'. It was renovated and converted into a dwelling in 1975.

From the outside, surrounded by its own delightful country cottage garden and cute courtyard with flagstone patio and boasting round and arch windows for extra impact, the coach house alone is a building that you can't wait to explore, before you even get to the main house.

And inside, the coach house doesn't disappoint - it oozes all the character that you would hope for from the pretty outside facade. There's an open-plan sitting room that is a comfortable and cosy space, with a fireplace in the corner and light flooding in from the main arch window at the rear that looks out over the charming village green.

Off this central room is a galley kitchen on one side and a cloakroom on the other, joined by stairs up to two double bedrooms and a bathroom. All rooms carry on the classic and timeless interior design encased within a mini-stately home vibe that is found in the main house. And if this does become a granny annexe, that's one very lucky granny.

Then to the main house, and it's a stunner. From the classic symmetrical Georgian facade of the main house to the truly idyllic gardens that roll down to the banks of the river Wye, the setting is an ideal companion to this rural retreat.

The grounds include a collection of mature trees and immaculate lawns hidden behind a high hedge with only a glimpse of the beauty beyond allowed through an archway cut into the foliage. It's as tempting to explore through here as it is to push open the front door.

And it is worth the detour, as this slice of garden heaven includes a perfect, blissful place to park yourself - a bench placed under a tree, on a terrace, next to a charming stone wall, with uninterrupted, panoramic views of the river and rolling landscape beyond.

The house has, as you'd expect from a property that commands attention, a large area at the front to add to its grand first impression, where you can step back and peruse the two sections of the home - the three-storey Georgian mansion and the service wing to the right, set back slightly and once dedicated to the servants of the house.

Into the main house and the hall has the features hoped for and found in other rooms too - simple, elegant Georgian classics such as a ceiling arch, statement staircase, panelled internal doors, deep skirtings and feature fireplaces - all lit by huge windows.

Stepping into the hall it's immediately apparent that this is a warm and welcoming space and it sets the tone for the whole home - it does not alienate with grandness and over-the-top opulence but embraces as a comfortable cocoon of traditional colours, patterns and furniture peppered with period features.

Study with fireside armchair that promises a cosy nap whenever you visit (Knight Frank estate agents, Worcestershire / rightmove)

Either side of the hall is a reception room. To the left is a delightful and traditional drawing room, with the furniture focused around the period fireplace and a bonus set of French doors in the corner leading out to the gorgeous garden.

The other reception room is a study with a desk placed at the window, maybe unwisely with the garden views to distract you, and an armchair by the fire for cosy moments of contemplation away from work or studying.

To the rear of the ground floor is a formal dining room that can boast a large window that invites the garden in to join the dinner party, plus parquet flooring and room for at least 10 guests.

Then into the servants' wing to find the substantial kitchen breakfast room, a country-style space with quarry tiles and exposed beams, with the pretty garden views appearing again at the kitchen sink. The ground floor also offers a cloakroom, utility room and a garage next door, before the grand stairs get you to five bedrooms spread over two floors.

Bedroom two is located over the kitchen and offers a large ensuite with statement bath and a walk-in wardrobe. Bedroom three is another double and also found off this first floor landing is a separate dressing room and a family bathroom with a pretty pink, roll-top bath tub.
