'Beautiful' flat on shores of Loch Ness goes on the market in stunning former monastery

Loch Ness was once voted the UK's most beautiful view - and there's the chance to see it every day now a historic two-bedroom flat has gone on the market. Offers over £225,000 are being invited for the property which is set in a former Benedictine monastery on the shores of the 23-mile loch.

Described by the estate agent as a "beautiful apartment," the upper floor flat is part of the Highland Club development. Overall, the development covers 20 acres and offers uninterrupted views over Loch Ness in Scotland.

The flat, 8 Moat House, can be found in the oldest section of St Benedict's Abbey, the Daily Record reports. Many original features remain from when the place was built in 1880.

Loch Ness was named the most beautiful view in the UK following a study commissioned by rail company LNER last year.

The listing says: "Fantastic opportunity to purchase this beautifully presented upper floor two-bedroom apartment located within the historic former Benedictine Monastery on the shores of Loch Ness. The apartment is on the second floor of Moat House, the oldest section of this spectacular building.

"Recently decorated and upgraded throughout and fitted with a new en-suite bathroom, family shower room and combi boiler, this property is in walk-in condition. This property would be an ideal purchase for anyone looking for a peaceful home or as an investment opportunity with excellent letting potential, particularly in the holiday letting market. The property is compliant with current letting legislation and an application has already been made for new letting licensing regulations."

Inside, there is a bright and spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that includes three deep-silled windows that overlook the courtyard garden. Meanwhile the kitchen features integrated appliances as well as space for a small dining table and four chairs.

Residents have access to facilities within the Highland Club including a heated swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room, a gym and a communal lounge with snooker table. There is also an on-site restaurant and a beauty room.

Outside, there is a children's playground, tennis courts, and a cricket pitch. There is also easy access to the Loch for water sport enthusiasts. See Rightmove for further details.
