Beautician drank prosecco and attacked stranger with her stiletto outside hotel

A beautician drank a bottle of prosecco, snorted cocaine then battered a complete stranger with her stiletto heel.

Amy Henderson mistakenly thought the victim was flirting with her boyfriend and responded by throttling her with a shoe outside the INNSiDE Liverpool hotel on Old Hall Street earlier this year.

The 28 year old, from Glasgow, had to be pulled off Chloe Goddard by people standing nearby. Henderson walked free from court today as a judge ordered she pay Ms Goddard, who has been left with scars on her head, £1,000 in compensation.

Derek Jones, prosecuting, said both Henderson and Ms Goddard had been staying at the INNSiDE Liverpool hotel on the weekend of June 13 this year. Neither had ever met and both couples had their own separate nights out but later returned to their rooms.

Ms Goddard then left her room to go outside the hotel and walked out the front doors when Henderson’s boyfriend, by coincidence was also on his way out. He started a conversation with her and asked if he could briefly use her phone. She agreed and gave it to him. A short time later, while the pair were talking, Henderson went to look for her boyfriend and went outside as well. CCTV showed her approaching the pair and speaking to them before suddenly attacking Ms Goddard.

She could be seen hitting her before taking off a Louboutin-style heel with a red sole and battering Ms Goddard over the head with it multiple times. At that point, people standing nearby dragged her away.

Mr Jones said Henderson had apparently seen Ms Goddard talking to her boyfriend and presumed she was coming on to him, something that was later confirmed to be false.

He said: “Clearly, she has put two and two together and made five.”

Ms Goddard went to hospital for treatment and Henderson was later arrested by police. She pleaded guilty to assault.

Paul Lewis, defending, said Henderson, who the court heard had drunk a bottle of prosecco and had taken some cocaine before the attack, had little memory of what happened. However, he said she now felt ashamed of the incident and regretted her actions. He appealed to the judge, Recorder Martine Snowdon, to suspend any prison term and said Henderson would be able to pay compensation with the income from her business.

The judge, Recorder Martine Snowdon, said Henderson’s attack left Ms Goddard with scars and came despite Ms Goddard doing nothing to provoke it.

She said: “She was minding her own business. In fact, she had been assisting your boyfriend by letting him use her phone.”

Recorder Snowdon added that she had “no doubt” Henderson would have continued her attack had she not been pulled off Ms Goddard.

She sentenced Henderson, of Knightscliffe Avenue in Glasgow, to an eight month jail term, suspended for 12 months. She was also ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
