The Chicago Bears are expected to hire Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as their next head coach, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Eberflus was one of three finalists along with Dan Quinn and Jim Caldwell for the vacancy in Halas Hall. He had his second interview with the brass on Wednesday, which included new general manager Ryan Poles, who was hired over Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown.

So after four seasons with the Colts serving as the defensive coordinator under Frank Reich, Eberflus finally gets his gig as a head coach. He’ll be working with a young core of talent to build around quarterback Justin Fields.
Now, the Colts have to find a new defensive coordinator. They will have plenty of options. They can look within and promote an assistant to the coordinator gig or look outside with the plentiful options like Vic Fangio, Wink Martindale or Patrick Graham.
It will also be interesting to see how this impacts the rest of the coaching staff as Eberflus is likely to bring along several of the assistants from the Colts’ staff.
