Bears quarterback Justin Fields emerged as one of the NFL’s most electric players, where he made defenses pay with his elite speed and athleticism. Fields unlocked a new element of Chicago’s offense that the team will look to build on heading into 2023.
Fields is entering an important offseason where he’s eager to improve and show his full capability as a quarterback in the NFL. While everyone respects Fields’ mobility, now it’s time to add the passing game to the equation.
Fields revealed he’s focusing on improvement in the short passing game. He singled out mechanics as part of the problem, and it’s something he’s looking to fix this offseason.
And it sounds like Fields will have an opportunity to pick the brain of Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young, and Fields is eager for the chance.
“Our head coach, coach (Matt Eberflus), just met Steve Young,” Fields said on The Rich Eisen Show. “So I’m looking forward to getting together with him and talking to him a little bit about the quarterback position. About playing quarterback.”
So what exactly does Fields want to know?
“Just everything,” he said. “The ups and downs. How he played the position and what his mindset was going into each week, going into every game and stuff like that.”
Fields would definitely benefit from getting to talk quarterback with one of the best of all-time. Especially heading into a crucial Year 3 where everyone’s expecting Fields to take a step forward in the passing game.
