Bears offense had dominant first half outing vs. Commanders

The Chicago Bears dominated the first half of Thursday night’s game against the Washington Commanders, where the offense built on their solid outing in Week 4.

The offense had 307 total yards of offense and scored 27 points, and there were some impressive individual performances.

Receiver DJ Moore was a force in the first half with seven catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns — and that was in the first 15 minutes along. Moore was brought in to be a No. 1 receiver, and he showed why with his dominant first-half performance.

Quarterback Justin Fields had a career game last week against the Denver Broncos, and he built on that in the first half. Fields completed 10-of-20 passes for 189 yards with three touchdowns and zero turnovers. In the last six quarters of play, Fields is 40-of-55 for 524 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception.

Running back Khalil Herbert had his first 100-yard game of the season last week, and he continued his dominant performance against the Commanders. Herbert had nine carries for 76 yards, where he averaged 8.4 yards per carry, and he churned out some tough runs.

Rounding things out, tight end Cole Kmet also had impressive first half. He had five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown, which marked his third touchdown in two games.

The Bears hold a 27-3 lead heading into the second half. But, as we know well, no lead is safe with Chicago. We’ll see if the offense can put their foot on the gas and close this one out for their first victory since Oct. 24, 2022.
