Bears HC Matt Eberflus insists there are no concerns about morale as losses mount

The Chicago Bears are staring down an 0-2 record in the midst of an active 12-game losing streak that isn’t likely to end anytime soon.

Bears fans have a sense of what could be coming, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs on deck, waiting for things to escalate inside Halas Hall as the struggles continue.

So is the constant losing creating any morale concerns inside the locker room?

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus quickly squashed the issue by saying, “there’s nothing there,” and the team is focused on moving forward.

“We are steadfast, we are straightforward and we are all in this together, as coaches, players,” Eberflus told reporters Monday. “We are looking at a great Wednesday practice and looking into Kansas City. That’s what we’re looking at.”

While Eberflus insists there aren’t any issues inside the locker room, the losing is starting to take its toll on the players. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson admitted as much after Sunday’s game.

Linebacker Jack Sanborn, who went 3-14 as a rookie, also said the losing has taken a toll on him.

“Everybody here wants to win, so, yeah, it definitely is tough,” Sanborn said. “And just being here last year too and just being a part of that, everyone kind of understands that and feels it. Nobody is more disappointed in it than the guys that are going out there every Sunday and putting their bodies on the line for it. Everyone wants to win. This city deserves a winning team, but we come in every day and that’s our goal.”

The best remedy is a victory. But it won’t be easy with the Chiefs next up and some talented teams on deck.
