Any hope of a comeback by the Chicago Bears against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was erased thanks to one questionable play call that led to a defensive touchdown. Bears quarterback Justin Fields had an opportunity to lead a comeback down three points, but a screen pass to Khalil Herbert deep in their own territory ended up getting picked off by Buccaneers linebacker Shaq Barrett for a pick-six, icing the game for Tampa 27-17.
The Bears officially start the season 0-2 with too many questions and not enough answers. The offense was too inconsistent despite showing flashes early, and the defense could only bend before breaking in the suffocating heat and humidity. It was a game that was within reach for much of the day, but now Chicago is winless and staring down the barrel with the Kansas City Chiefs waiting in the wings.
Buy Bears TicketsWith another loss, Bears fans are going through it, wondering why offensive coordinator Luke Getsy called a screen pass when they were backed up in their own territory, questioning Fields’ play, and everything in between. Here’s how fans are reacting on social media.
An inside screen? After running a screen the previous play? Against a veteran front? Why do they keep running these consecutively? Who are you fooling. I'm beside myself.
This is a bozo offense. And Fields still threw it. Not absolving him at all. What an absolute clown show.

Still don’t think Luke Getsy is the problem?.. See how they diagnosed that screen pass after he just ran it back to fkn back?! But sure Justin Fields is the problem right? GTFOH!! pic.twitter.com/LrEkTeAZNy

I don’t think the Bears have the answer at GM, head coach or quarterback.
Other than that, they’re fine.

Why throw another screen tho? pic.twitter.com/Ts4ru3ax7w

Justin fields ain't playing great right now… but my god this staff does zero to give hom easy opportunities… they call screens instead….
— Fellipe Poindexter (@JFilly84) September 17, 2023
Unless Getsy is willing to change his scheme Bears brass gotta start thinking about changing OC. That playcall in the possible game winning drive was putrid and fooled no one. Justin got you back in the game and you put him in a very bad position.

Another #Bears game. Another really offensive, Offensive implosion.
Epic Q4 meltdown. At least it’s a quarter later than last week?
Does that mean we are still “getting better each & every day?” pic.twitter.com/tirsUnbPNO

The Bears have broken the most talented QB they have ever had…….this is actually a tough watch (more than normal)
— Cork City Bears Fan (@BearsCork) September 17, 2023
Individually you may like Matt Eberflus, Luke Getsy, or Justin Fields, but it's hard to look at this #Bears team and say the group works well together.
7 wins was the bar — right now CHI looks woefully short of that. Soon it could be time to watch college QB highlights.

Me in the locker room pointing out who is to blame for the Bears terrible start to the season. pic.twitter.com/23eXq65WaT

You have to fire this staff. I must reiterate that statement

I wasn’t expecting the Bears to be good this year. I really wasn’t. However I ALSO wasn’t expecting them to be WORSE.

I can’t believe I’m saying this…but I’m ready for Agent Bagent. If I’m gonna suffer let it be exciting

Bears open as a 38.5-point underdog at Chiefs next week.

I have been one of the biggest Justin Fields cheerleaders, but this team needs a new QB.
Time to tank for Caleb Williams.
Trade Justin Fields to ATL before it's too late.#DaBears

I'm pretty sure @GBraggsJr23 just turned purple on the @CHGO_Bears postgame show.

Fields played poor 3 quarters. But the coaching as a whole is some of the worst I’ve seen complete head scratchers
