Bears expected to sign OG Nate Davis to 3-year deal

The Chicago Bears have finally made a move on the offensive line in free agency, as they’re expected to sign guard Nate Davis, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It’s a three-year deal worth $30 million with $19.25 million guaranteed.

Davis, 26, started 54 games for the Tennessee Titans at guard in his first four seasons. He’s played primarily at right guard, but he figures to be a replacement for Cody Whitehair, who could be a salary cap casualty this offseason.

Davis is a better run blocker than pass blocker, although he’s still solid in pass protection. The concern with Davis has been health, as he’s only played one full season.

It’s been a busy day for offensive tackles, where the Bears lost out on some of the top options in Mike McGlinchey and Jawaan Taylor. Instead, Chicago focused on the interior with Davis. It’s an indication the Bears could choose to focus on drafting a tackle with the No. 9 pick instead of overpaying.
