Beaming Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan reunite in first pictures of Neighbours finale

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan have been pictured together for the first time filming the eagerly-awaited Neighbours finale.

The pair, who played Scott and Charlene in the soap, have reprised their roles before the Aussie offering comes off air for good.

Jason and Kylie, both 54, shot to fame on Ramsay Street in 1986 - and have now given fans a sneak peak at their return.

In super sweet pics, the cult couple can be seen larking around as Kylie dons mechanic Charlene's trusty dungarees.

In another snap, the actress sits on the bonnet of a car as Jason, sporting a plaid shirt, hugs her warmly.

The couple will make their comeback in an emotional finale on July 29, which will air as a double episode on Channel 5 at 9pm.

There will also be a antepenultimate episode at the usual slots of 1.45pm and 6pm.

After 37 years on television, fans were heartbroken to learn the much-loved soap was coming to an end.

With 8,903 episodes, countless marriages, deaths, births and disasters, the programme was an integral part of many people's childhoods.

When news broke that the show was coming off air, one fan tweeted: "This makes me feel sooooo sad! I was obsessed by the show in the 80s and 90s it’s the reason I fell in love with Australia as a Brit!"

Many Brits did indeed fall in love with Australia, but most us were also obsessed with Kylie and Jason.

The picture-perfect pair used the show as a springboard for their music careers giving us smash-hits, including I Should Be So Lucky, Too Many Broken Hearts and of course their gorgeous duet, Especially For You.

Speaking about her return to Seth Myers, Kylie said: “I was only in the show for two and a half years, but it's when the show exploded. England just went crazy about it, so it’s been with me ever since.”

Neighbours has seen some of the world's biggest stars make their acting debut, including Margot Robbie, Delta Goodrum, Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth.

Paying tribute to the careers it helped to form, the soap will air a one-off episode called Neighbours: What Happened Next on Friday 29 at 10.05 on Channel 5.

And if that wasn't enough Neighbours: The Stars' Greatest Hits on Friday 29 July at 11.30 on Channel 5 will celebrate the musical offerings from its stars - from one-hit wonders to pop princesses such as Holly Vallance, who played Flick Scully from 1999 to 2022.
