Lifeboat crew race to rescue beachgoer trapped in quicksand during rising tide

An Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew raced to save a beachgoer trapped in quicksand during as rising waves threatened to submerge her within just “10-15 minutes”

Footage shared by the Rhyl Lifeboat Station on Monday (1 June) shows a crew travelling towards stranded woman Natasha Oldfield after an alert from the Coastguard.

Arriving at the scene, the volunteers placed a lifejacket on the rescuee as they helped them escape the quicksand by encouraging them to float on their back, before helping her onto the lifeboat.

“I honestly thought I wouldn’t get out,” she told North Wales Live. “I won’t ever be gong back on the beach.”
