A woman has died suddenly at a beach in North Ayrshire.
Police confirmed the 49-year-old female had passed away on Tuesday night at Stevenston beach.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained but police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
An investigation is underway with a report due to be provided for the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland statement reads: "Officers were called to Stevenson beach at around 5pm on Tuesday, May 24, following the sudden death of a 49-year-old woman.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and enquiries are ongoing.
"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
