The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) unearthed three palatial houses at Doddakallasandra, J.P. Nagar 6th Phase, and K. S. Layout, five sites in Bengaluru, and multiple parcels of commercial land worth several crores owned by Shivalingaiah, a gardener with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). He is at present posted as an assistant to AEE, BDA, Banashankari.
He was among the 21 public servants working with various departments across the State who were raided by the ACB in a mega operation on 80 premises linked to them on Friday. In all, 555 officers and staffers of ACB were involved in the raids.
Raids were conducted in 14 districts of the State and included officials working in the Public Works Department, Major and Minor Irrigation departments, Transport Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj departments and BDA, among others. In probably a first, residences of two retired officials were also raided.
The ACB found ₹5 lakh cash hidden in the bathroom of the house of Bheemarao Yashwanth Pawar, Chief Engineer, PWD, in Belagavi.
The ACB has been tight-lipped on the recoveries made from the residences of these officials. Based on a preliminary inquiry report, the ACB filed disproportionate assets cases against all the 21 officials and raided them, sources said.
