BCCI Awards: When Sunil Gavaskar got musical as Jemimah Rodrigues strummed the guitar

The BCCI held its first awards ceremony since the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world in 2020; and besides the top Indian cricketers being honoured, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar enthralled the guests as he showed his musical side.

In an image shared by the BCCI on microblogging social media platform 'X', an animated Gavaskar could be seen enjoying on the stage as Indian women's team batter Jemimah Rodrigues strummed the guitar standing behind him.

"Naman Awards is all about celebrating Indian Cricket, and the legendary Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, and the Rockstar, Ms. @JemiRodrigues, are taking it a notch higher tonight — an unforgettable melange of cricket and music," the caption with the post read.

Jemimah is well known for her love for music, and several of her singing and guitar-playing videos have gone viral over the years.

International stars like Shubman Gill, Smriti Mandhana and Jasprit Bumrah were among several other top performers in the list of winners, while Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer received the lifetime achievement awards.

Because no awards had been given since the outbreak of Covid-19, the Indian cricket board honoured winners for the last four seasons in domestic and international cricket.
