BBC weatherman subtly pays touching tribute to Strictly Come Dancing's Len Goodman

BBC weatherman Darren Bett paid tribute to Strictly Come Dancing star Len Goodman after his death.

The Strictly icon, who was battling bone cancer, was residing in a hospice in Tunbridge Wells in Kent when he died at the age of 78 on Saturday.

Friends and fans of Len, including Camilla Parker Bowles, paid tribute to the star after his agent announced the news earlier this week.

While reading the weather forecast, meteorologist Darren said temperatures in Scotland will reach 7°C.

He shouted 'seven' in the same style Len would say the number while giving dancers scores on the BBC dancing competition.

"It gets warmer over the land, the cloud bubbles up, spreads out, it does become more cloudy through the day," he said.

"The winds will be light tomorrow [Tuesday] and temperatures will range from seven up in northern Scotland to 12 in the South East of England."

Len's agent shared the news of his death with a statement on Monday morning.

A statement from his agent said: "It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78.

"A much-loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him."

Following the news, tributes have poured in for the Strictly icon.

Buckingham Palace said the Queen Consort was saddened to learn of Len's death. "Her Majesty was saddened to hear the news," a spokesperson said earlier yesterday.

Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman tweeted: "I’m so sad about Len. He was one of a kind, a brilliant and kind man. Full of twinkle, warmth and wit. Sending all love to his family and friends. X."

Craig Revel Horwood, who sat on the Strictly judging panel alongside Len for many years, tweeted: "I’ve just woken up to the sad news that my gorgeous colleague and dear friend Len Goodman has passed away.

"My heart and love go out to his lovely Sue and family. Len Goody Goodman is what I always called him and “It’s a ten from Len & seveeeeern”will live with me forever. RIP Len."

Fellow Strictly star Anton du Beke teared up while discussing the Strictly icon during his appearance on The One Show.
