BBC Breakfast viewers were left fuming over a Titanic interview as a man who made the same trip says "experts are making mistakes".
Mike Reiss appeared on the morning news show to discuss his experience on the submarine.
It comes after the vessel has been missing since yesterday afternoon with five people onboard including British billionaire Hamish Harding.
The BBC Breakfast guest described the journey as "very relaxing, very comfortable" and even fell asleep on the way down to see the wreckage.
"It couldn't be lower tech, you just drop down for 2 and half hours," Mike explained.
"The ship is propelled by very tiny motors that look like a fan you would have on your desk and it is steered by an X-box joystick from a game system.
"You are very taken with how simple it is."
Mike said they experienced some technical faults whilst down there adding: "It's pitch dark down there and the radar, the compass stopped working. We spent most of our time down there just flailing around, trying to find the biggest thing in the ocean."
When they did find the Titanic, he said they had 20 minutes at the site which was "enough for a photo opportunity".
Describing the experience, Mike said: "You drop like a stone and at the end you pop up like a cork."
With his own experience, the guest gave his own verdict on what could happen to the missing craft.
He said: "I am not optimistic. I know how vast the ocean is and how very tiny this craft is. It is a beautifully designed craft.
"It is meant to go down further than any other vessels can go. So if it is down at the bottom I don't know how anyone can access it much less bring it back up."
Mike also shared how he has done three dives and "every time they have lost communication".
"Again this is not to say this is a shoddy thing but this is all new technology and they are learning it as they go along.
"You have to remember the early days of the space programme or the early days of aviation where you have to figure out what you're doing."
However, Mike was slammed by viewers at home who said he seemed "thrilled" to be talking about it.
One said: "Yeh this man isn’t coming across great lol. Love the grand standing about his trip whilst people are suffocating to death at the bottom of the sea."
"The submarine missing its people with to much money and don't know what to do with it and the idiot in new york mike think this is funny and fun," added another.
Someone else commented: "This guy is absolutely thrilled to be talking about when he went on that sub.#BBCBreakfast."
"What a smarmy sod this submarine riding guy seems," quipped a fourth.
Another hit out: "This idiot on #BbcBreakfast doesn’t care about the missing people in the sub. He’s just using this as an opportunity to tell everyone about what a great experience he had… the egotistical b****d."
