BBC The Wheel's Kate Humble in tears after helping contestant win life-changing sum of money

Television presenter Kate Humble was left in tears after helping a contestant win a life-changing amount of money on The Wheel. The BBC One game show hosted by Michael McIntyre sees seven celebrities try to help three contestants answer questions in order to win some cash.

This week Welsh singer Charlotte Church, Stephen Mangan, Sam Quek, Nihal Arthanayake, Kate Humble, Rosie Ramsey and Keith Brymer Jones were on the wheel with their chosen categories of boxing, singing, sport, box sets, pottery, animals, and hip hop.

After an intense episode, it was down to one final question in order for primary school teacher Fawziyah to win a whopping £38,000. The 27-year-old revealed at the start of the programme that she had married in lockdown and had not yet gone on her honeymoon, so was hoping to head to Dubai and the Maldives with her husband should she win.

After choosing Kate Humble to help her in the cash out, the wheel landed on 'celebrities' and the pair were asked: "Which of these celebrities is godfather to Brooklyn Beckham?"

Choices were Gary Neville, Elton John, Gordon Ramsay or Tom Cruise, while Fawziyah thought it could be Gary, Kate said she was "fairly certain" it was Elton John. After locking in her answer Fawziyah was left in tears after realising she'd won the cash.

"I don't know anything about celebrities," Kate admitted as she threw her hands up in the air in shock, before adding: "I want to get out here and give you a hug."

Kate then teared up as Fawziyah said: "It will literally change my life completely," and began to cry. Kate responded as she wiped away tears: "I never wear make-up and now it's going to be all down my face so I'm going to look like a panda."

"Kate's always talking about animals," Michael joked as the studio began to laugh. "Thank you so much," Fawziyah said again, "I don't even know what to say."

"Just have the best time," Kate responded still crying. Commenting on Twitter, one BBC viewer wrote: "How nice is Kate Humble? She was genuinely happy for that contestant!"

While Sam Quek commented: "G'won Girl! - Made up for Fawziyah winning her dream honeymoon on #TheWheel. Loads of fun to film and I am glad I helped to build the pot up." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
