BBC The Traitors fans ask same question after shocking banishment twist ahead of the final

The Traitors has become one of the most talked about shows on TV, providing a deliciously chilling end to the year with shocking betrayals across a roundtable, creepy challenges and brutal backstabbings. Overseen by Claudia Winkleman, who has taken on a very different guise from her cheery Strictly hosting duties skulking around a Scottish castle in gloves and oversized jumpers, the players work together on missions to add money to a prize pot.

However, hidden amongst them are 'traitors' whose job it is to secretly murder a player every night on the BBC One contest without getting caught by the other players, dubbed the 'faithfuls.' It's the aim of the faithfuls to work out the traitors in their midst as they fight for surival. One player is then banished following an emotional round table showdown as accusations fly and fingers are pointed.

The banishment is then followed by an after lights out murder by the traitors, who are aiming to claim the cash prize of up to £120,000 for themselves. For those who saw The Traitors on Tuesday night there was a shock as Wilf Webster turned on his only remaining fellow traitor Amanda Lovett in a shock betrayal.

Until this episode the real estate agent from Wales had managed to go undetected as being a traitor until Wilf planted a seed of doubt, and fans were fuming. Viewers took to Twitter to ask the same question as Amanda waved goodbye to her double life in the castle.

@AliKahncomedy asked: "#TheTraitors What's stopping a banished traitor calling out a traitor who has just shafted them as they leave?? Contract clause?? Cos this would literally ruin the whole game...intrigued how this is controlled."

@wakeupplease0 replied: "I thought the same but they must be under strict contracts not to give hints or names out otherwise the show can’t be aired and they’d be sued for the loss of earnings."

@DebExploresx said: "Well I hope someone throws Wilf under the bus. There was no need for that. Brutal. I’d have been cryptic in my leaving words to try point the finger at him. #TheTraitorsUK #TheTraitors."

And @MikeDaviesNow also wondered why a departing traitor can't retaliate if a counterpart undermines them. "Why doesn’t Amanda just say Wilf is the other traitor? #TheTraitors," they asked. And @MiteshSoni_1 said about Amanda: "LIVID. Absolutely LIVID. Such a legend."

@SimonWilson2021 explained: "That would against the 'traitors oath' they took in the first ep. Presumably they were reminded every day and especially before round table that they mustn’t do that."

@Calopumi praised the show, which ends on Thursday: "#TheTraitors The best programme BBC have put on for years.. really enjoying it." @JohnDalziel said: "Just catching up on #TheTraitors - What a twist before the final episode!!! I’ve been hooked, I hope it gets a second series!" And @JAB93 wrote: "Oh my god. Gutted at that last #TheTraitors episode but WHAT A TWIST! WHAT A GAME! UnBELIEVABLE!"
