BBC The One Show's Jermaine Jenas says he would ‘probably do’ Strictly in the future

The One Show host Jermaine Jenas says he would ‘probably do’ Strictly Come Dancing for his family but can't commit right now because he is so busy. The 39-year-old from Nottingham has said his family wants to see him on the BBC dance show and he’s even spoken to Strictly bosses.

Speaking in an interview with Guilty Pleasures Jermaine said: “Listen, I’ve spoken to Strictly [bosses] a few times, and you know, they understand my position, where I am right now.

“It’s just my family are so young, and my job is so intense, I couldn’t commit everything I would want to that type of show.

“It might be different next year, or the year after.” Jermaine, a dad-of-four, added: “[My family] are always like, “I’d love to see you on it”. For that reason alone, I’d probably do it.

“Once your career finishes, you’ve had all this pressure your whole life, then it’s just nothing. You’d think it’d be nice, a relief, but I’ve never enjoyed it. I needed to find some purpose in my life [again].”

Looking back at his football days, The One Show star remembers really putting his foot in it when he walked in on Nancy Dell’Olio, then-girlfriend of England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, in the loo while travelling to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

He said: “We were getting the flight, I quickly needed the toilet, I had my headphones on, my head down, and I opened the door and she’s stood there staring at me.

‘I’m like, “What’s going on here?!” Then I realised I was in the ladies’ toilet with the gaffer’s [missus] – that was pretty embarrassing.”
