BBC The One Show's Alex Jones absent from sofa after breaking down in supermarket car park

Welsh presenter Alex Jones was missing from her normal spot on the green sofa on The One Show this Tuesday, January 10, with Lauren Laverne joining Jermaine Jenas on the regular BBC evening show for presenting duties. Earlier in the day Alex revealed on her Instagram that she had broken down in a supermarket car park.

Regular host, Alex, told fans on Tuesday that she'd suffered a 'driver's nightmare' after her car broke down at her local Sainsbury's, and while the Ammanford presenter was listed in the latest Radio Times as working on the latest instalment, Radio 6 Music and Desert Island Discs host, Laverne, a regular stand-in, was front and centre with Jenas, interviewing hypnotist Paul McKenna and Strictly winners Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal.

Alex posted to her Instagram story Tuesday afternoon a picture of her car broken down in the Sainsbury's car park, she said: "Happy Tuesday! Currently broken down here of all places. Hope you're [sic] day is better!"

Hopefully, Alex is ok and the car and the presenter are both back home as she hadn't updated fans on the latest about her vehicle breakdown. But at the end of the Tuesday episode it was announced that the Welsh presenter would return on Wednesday, January 11.

Currently, Alex has a brand new documentary exploring fertility and IVF, airing on W Channel. In the first episode, she met the boss of King's Fertility Dr Ippokratis Sarris who sternly warned Alex to be a "help and not a hindrance" during the filming of her documentary where she trained to become a fertility assistant.

Sitting outside Dr Sarris's office Alex admits that she is nervous. She says: "I'm sitting outside like a naughty school girl...I'm quite, I dunno, I'm quite anxious. I don't know what to expect, I think his expectations are going to be very high as well so I just hope that I can please."

Dr Sarris quickly told Alex that he "strives for perfection" which can mean that he has "a very short and small tolerance for mistakes". Alex said that she wanted to be a "good help and not a hindrance" to which Dr Sarris replied: "I hope so too. I'm not going to lie, I hope so too".
