BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers hit out at spoilers amid 'fake result show'

Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens for another year as celebrities competing against each other in a bid to take home the Glitterball Trophy.

By now, as many are aware, when two couples are in the dance off they are made to perform again that night where the judges then pick who they thought were the best.

The couple who gets the most votes is saved whilst the other is eliminated from the competition series.

However the BBC has come under fire from viewers who have blasted the dancing show for 'pretending' the Sunday night results show is live after the first elimination week of 2022.

The familiar complaint surfaced in 2021 and many fans complained that the Sunday results show pretended to be shown live, but in fact was actually recorded on Saturday.

Despite this, the same format has continued with Claudia Winkleman and the contestants talking about 'tonight' and 'Sunday's results' despite the show being filmed all on the same night.

One of the reasons for the complaints is that spoilers from anonymous Twitter accounts leak out which couple were in the dance off as well as which couple were eliminated every week and many fans already know who's going to leave ahead of Sunday's results show.

And one fan, as reported by Yorkshire Live, even pointed out that the BBC is keeping up the ruse by adding subtitles live, instead of pre-added, to make the show appear as if the subtitles are being added to live speech.

Taking to social media to vent their frustration with the 'fake' results show one user tweeted: "#Strictly are even trying to promote the illusion that this is *actually* live by putting the subtitles on in real time."

Another added: "Still don’t get why they need to treat us like idiots by keep repeating 'So you've got past last nights/Saturdays show, how do you feel'. We all know it’s not live. Treat us like we have more common sense than that please."

A third commented: "#Strictly why do you treat the British public as if they are stupid? Trying to make out that the Sunday #StrictlyComeDancing is filmed on the Sunday and everyone comes back, dresses up for the camera, for only 2 couples to dance. Really? We are not stupid."

"I love the fake live shows so much cause I can convince my family that I'm really good at guessing who goes but in reality I just saw the spoiler from last night #Strictly" joked a fourth.

A fifth then concluded: "God how many years they gonna pretend tonight show is live we all know it’s not. Have the results show after the main show or a actual live show on Sunday #StrictlySpoiler."
