Strictly Come Dancing star Aljaž Škorjanec has teased a possible return to the hit BBC show. The professional dancer quit in 2021 but listed a range of different roles he could take on when quizzed on whether he would ever go back.
Aljaž became a firm favourite with fans after lifting the Glitterball trophy with model Abbey Clancy in his debut series in 2013. The dancer, who also reached the final with Gemma Atkinson in 2017, has previously spoken of the "opportunity and freedom" the show gave him and said it changed his life.
A return to Strictly was mooted by Lorraine Kelly as he appeared on her ITV show Lorraine with his pregnant wife Janette Manrara, the Mirror reports. Lorraine said: "You're still very much part of Strictly, although I know you're not in it all the time Alijaz".
He chimed in to add: "Maybe one day again! Yeah there's so many parts on that show - there's dancers, judges, presenters so you never know."
The presenter then went on to explain how much he was missed on the programme, telling Aljaž: "I would love to have you back, we miss you. So if you could squeeze it in, it'll be lovely! Judging that show would be something, wouldn't it? I would like that."
"Imagine that! I'd like that too," Alijaz added before Janette spoke about her role on Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two.
In a statement released last February, Alijaz said Strictly was the "biggest opportunity for a 23 year old boy from Slovenia". He told fans: "It didn’t matter how many beautiful ballrooms I performed in during my competitive career, stepping onto the sacred Strictly floor was the most nervous I had ever been," he began in a post on social media.
"A little while ago I made the tough decision that Strictly 2021 would be my last. The show has given me an opportunity and freedom to create and express myself in front of millions of people every weekend for the last 9 years."
He also had a sweet message for his fans: "And finally, thank YOU, the people that watch Strictly who have been so kind to me all these years. Every comment, vote, kind message never went unnoticed. You are the reason we all do it, thank you!"
