Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones suffered a shocker on the show's spin-off It Takes Two and joked he was going to contact Ofcom over his injustice. He was the latest of the BBC One dance contest's professional dancers to appear on the BBC2 show to find out their results of a new series challenge.
It Takes Two launched its Strictly Pro Challenge earlier this week and the challenge invites the show's professionals to set a new Guinness World Record for the most dance steps in 30 seconds. Karen Hauer was the first to find out how she did on Wednesday's edition of the show.
In 30 seconds Karen, who was partnered with comedian Jayde Adams for the 20th series of Strictly, completed 23 steps, overseen by judge Craig Revel Horwood. She was challenged to perform the most back Charleston kick-steps in 30 seconds. But she was in for an unwelcome surprise as she was told she had all of them disqualified. "I can't believe that. What happened?" cried host Janette Manrara.
But she wasn't the only one to suffer in the challenge as Cameron Lombard also had all his moves disqualified. However, Katya Jones, Neil's ex-wife, is currently top of the leaderboard with seven after a number of her attempts were also dismissed.
And now Neil has joined the bottom of the pile. Rylan introduced his attempt on Friday nights It Takes Two. After seeing the VT, Neil joked that he had to lay down for 'three weeks' after taking on the challenge before Rylan asked: "And no shoes, are you alright?" The dancer replied: "I thought it's better to slide and I thought it'd make me lighter."
"But did it though?" Rylan inquired before creating some tension to reveal Neil's results. The host confirmed that Neil performed 26 steps and while Neil appeared quite chuffed, Rylan got him to wait as he still had to reveal if he had any moves disqualified.
"26 disqualifications which means Neil, you scored zero and are joint bottom of the leaderboard," Rylan confirmed to which a gutted Neil replied: "Who is judging this competition!?" Rylan said: "What can I say to that... Neil, what do you make of that?" to which he said: "I definitely had 19...
"I want a recount," he added as Rylan told him: "Emails to the BBC please." As Neil replied that he 'will do', he then joked: "Ofcom... I'm writing in!" And those watching It Takes Two were taking to social media to comment on the challenge and it appears to be causing confusion.
@KateG1962 said: "#ItTakesTwo I really don't understand this challenge, how can they all be getting it so wrong." @Ariadne_Reviews wrote: "'This is the hardest pro challenge EVER!' yeah... we can tell... #itt #ItTakesTwo." @nicolab77 tweeted: "This pro challenge is rubbish #ItTakesTwo." @ElizabethCushw1 added: "Is anyone else struggling to follow what the steps actually are in the pro-challenge this year? Wish they'd show someone doing it head on properly so we could see what it should look like #strictly #ItTakesTwo."
