BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Ellie Taylor praised for honest response to being quizzed on her Christmas plans

Ellie Taylor has been inundated with responses after sharing a message about being quizzed on her Christmas plans. The Ted Lasso actress recently bowed out of Strictly Come Dancing after landing in the dreaded dance-off with partner Johannes Radebe.

The pair were the ninth couple to be eliminated from the BBC One dance contest which is now just a couple of weeks away from crowning its 2022 winner. Ellie and Johannes missed out on a place in the recent quarter-final, which was also musicals week, when the red light of doom fell on them and Fleur East and Vito Coppola.

After the judges voted to save Hits Radio host Fleur and her Italian dance partner, Strictly co-host Tess Daly asked Ellie whether the competition had been everything she had expected to which she said: “It has and it’s been, I’m going to be a cliche machine now, but it’s been everything and more. I never in a million years expected to be in for this long and to experience it so fully.

Praising her dance partner, Ellie and Johannes were in tears as she said: “We’ve had so much fun. And to borrow an Anton-ism, let me tell you about you Johannes Radebe. You are as wonderful as everyone said you would be, and I’ve said you’re like human sunshine and you really really are."

But with her dancing shoes now off - until the final at least when all the celebs usually return for a special performance - Ellie is busy being a mum-of-one and juggling her other working commitments. However, it hasn't stopped her from being asked about Christmas and her plans for the festive season.

And it appears Ellie wasn't too thrilled with the questioning. The 39-year-old comedian shared a post on Instagram which read: "Public service announcement RE XMAS. A lovely mum asked me the other day 'what I had booked in' for December. I answered, 'erm nothing really.'"

She went on to share: "Just a reminded that that's ok. We have no big plans, no Santa visit, no Xmas train, no 1 to 1 coaching session with Mrs Claus, no elf on a shelf, not even an advent calendar (she's not into choc). She [Ellie's daughter] was buzzing getting the tree, decorating it and watching an Xmas movie with a biscuit."

The post was shared across a picture of her daughter on a carousel as Ellie continued: "This pic is at a local shopping centre where there's a dodgy fun fair and she rode a horse called Martin. We'll spend time with family, we'll play games, we'll argue, we'll have a gorgeous time."

She then added her post with a direct message, writing: "It's ok if your Xmas doesn't look like Instagram influencer accounts. Don't feel the pressure babies, especially when times are tight for so many. It's all nonsense. Your Christmas is beautiful, your way."

Adding a caption to her Instagram post, Ellie typed: "Crikey I’ve had so many DMs about this story. People asking to be able to share it so here you go, sweetlings. Don’t let the b******s (social media) get ya down." And it is fair to say the post soon gathered an overwhelming response and garnered a lot of praise for Ellie.
