BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans stressed as spoiler fails to arrive after 'mole' drama

The BBC may be in luck as the last Strictly Come Dancing spoiler has failed to arrive - and it's leaving fans stressed. In a show first, the BBC One dance contest aired its usual Saturday night live show, and the semi-final no less, on Sunday night (December 11).

The five remaining celebrities Molly Rainford, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton and Will Mellor, who have each topped the leaderboard during their time on the hit show, performed two dances in a bid to secure their place in the final which takes place in a matter of days on Saturday (December 17).

And it was wildlife cameraman Hamza and professional dance partner Jowita Przystal fought off close competition from singer and CBBC star Molly and her dance partner Carlos Gu to top the Strictly leaderboard in the penultimate round of the dance competition.

Hamza received 39, the joint highest score of the night, for his Scottish-themed Charleston to Pencil Full Of Lead by Paolo Nutini with Jowita. However, his second performance, a waltz to What The World Needs Now by Burt Bacharach, failed to strike the same chord with Shirley, despite a total score of 37, who noticed mistakes she has "never seen him make".

Molly was just one point behind Yassin on the leaderboard following her “absolutely fantastic” paso doble to Survivor by 2WEI featuring Edda Hayes. The judges, who scored her 39, said the song was fitting for the 21-year-old, who has survived four dance-offs during her time on the show. And the triumphant dance followed her emotional American smooth to Easy On Me by Adele which scored 36.

With the change to the schedule due to the football, the last results show of the series will air on Monday night (November 12) at 8.15pm with a performance from Lewis Capaldi and a group number featuring judge Craig. But, because the results show is always filmed directly after the live show, fans usually find out the eliminated contestant on social media.

Fans of the show usually take Twitter to express their outrage over the leaked result and it has previously reportedly left bosses trying to search for the mystery leaker in a bid to combat the issue. Strictly did actually used to do two live shows in a weekend - doing the results in real-time on a Sunday. However, it has previously been revealed that this was changed in 2008 because then host, the late Bruce Forsyth was struggling with doing two nights in a row, at the age of 80.

But following the semi-final, fans waiting on social media for the leaking result via Strictly Spoiler were left disappointed as it didn't arrive in the evening and at the time of writing, still hadn't dropped. @irwinscline tweeted: "#StrictlySpoiler pls hurry up. im stressed and want to go to sleep."

@DWTSALANARTEM31 said: "I need that #StrictlySpoiler like now! I need 2 know where Helen & Gorka stand OMG." @scdxfleur commented: "The wait for this spoiler is almost as bad as last year’s semi-final, i am TERRIFIED #StrictlySpoiler." @StrictlySpoiler wrote: "8am & no verifiable #StrictlySpoiler anywhere! The usual FB groups & "moles" are yet to confirm who got evicted from last nights #Strictly." @amysafcxx added: "Has been the latest #StrictlySpoiler ever???? 7.30am in the morning and we still don’t know."

Overnight, the person who runs the Strictly Spoiler Twitter account had an update for fans as the time neared 1am, writing: "Sorry guys but that’s about me for the night as I have a lecture at 9am I’ve no mole and other (reputable) sources are struggling too. There will be a spoiler but it’s either going to be overnight or early morning if a mole comes through or I have my other source I used in covid."
