BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans spot hilarious detail in big routine as they 'know' what professionals were up to

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left laughing when the show's professional dancers performed an epic routine during the first results show of the series.

Nancy Xu, who is partnered with Will Mellor in the 20th series of the hit BBC One dance show, kickstarted the slick performance to a medley of Need You Tonight by INXS and About Damn Time by Lizzo. She stood out in a red latex catsuit with killer heeled boots before her co-stars appeared.

The show's other professional dancers, including Gorka Marquez, Karen Hauer, Nikita Kumzin and Graziano Di Prima donned a mixture of suave white suits and all-black outfits before Johannes Radebe stole the show in a feathered mesh top and black leather trousers as he strutted along in a pair of towering heels.

But there was one particular detail that caught viewers' eyes - and that was that each dancer appeared to be wearing pairs of elbow-length gloves. And it left many Strictly fans joking about what they were up to before taking to the ballroom, or what they would be heading off to do straight after.

@KirstyAPalmer tweeted: "I hope they’re going to go back and finish that washing-up that they’ve clearly abandoned part way through #Strictly." @twitfacemehere joked: "The boys will pop off to do the washing up after the dance. #strictly." @wuthering_alice echoed: "Nice to see the #Strictly lads wearing gloves for the washing up after they've finished their dance."

@RosieposieM quipped: "The #strictly boys have their washing up gloves on I see. Got a sink full here that won’t fit in the dishwasher." @OffBrandHeels posted: "This is the sexiest dance about doing the washing up I've ever seen #Strictly." While @BrewGuy_ laughed: "Best advert for Marigold Gloves Ever #Strictly."

Others, however, had another thought. @amyrosevaughan wrote: "Enjoying the veterinary gloves on #strictly - nothing like a bit of live calfing on prime time tv." @Mister_Woodo echoed: "Vets gloves. #strictly." @bettyredondo added: "Okay those gloves are plain CREEPY - they have a distinctly surgical vibe: gross #strictly."

The results show on Sunday night (October 2) also saw the first couple eliminated from the competition. Loose Women star Kaye Adams become the first celebrity to depart the Strictly dancefloor.

After the first public vote of the 20th series, the 59-year-old found herself up against singer Matt Goss in the dance-off, before the judges chose to send her home. The judges’ scores this week were added to those from last week, and were then combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest-scoring two couples.

After finding herself in the bottom two, Kaye, 59, performed her routine with partner Kai Widdrington for the second time after Saturday evening’s live show. The pair danced the Charleston to Music! Music! Music! before Bros singer Matt, 54, took to the dancefloor with his partner Nadiya Bychkova to perform their samba to Night Fever by the Bee Gees in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

After both the couples had danced a second time, the judging panel delivered their verdicts. Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke voted unanimously to save Matt and Nadiya, sealing Kaye and Kai's fate in the 2022 competition.

However, head judge Shirley Ballas revealed that she would have saved Adams and Widdrington. When asked if she agreed with her fellow judges, Ballas said: "I didn’t, I thought due to a little better quality, I would have saved Kaye and Kai."
