BBC Strictly Come Dancing bosses criticised within minutes over Blackpool format change

Strictly Come Dancing is back in Blackpool for the first time in three years, after a hiatus in the tradition due to the coronavirus pandemic, but fans were not impressed. Being in Blackpool means the show is bigger, with more sparkles, and more glitter and this year the celebrities were also joined by additional dancers on the dancefloor.

Many viewers did not like the additional dancers joining the routines and began complaining within minutes of the show beginning, Birmingham Live reports. One said: "Strictly get rid of the additional dancers! Off-putting,".

Another said: "Unpopular opinion, but I hate Blackpool week. I know they have extra dancers to fill the floor out, but I find them distracting." A third added: "It must be Blackpool, because the inexplicable and pointless backing dancers are back."

And one viewer added: "Sorry but Will's routine did nothing for me. Didn't capture the carnival atmosphere, backing dancers really distracting, and just a bit dull." A fifth said: "God I hate the extra dancers on Blackpool week @bbcstrictly they're so distracting and always in the way of the camera #Strictly"

Fleur East topped the leaderboard this week when she achieved the first 40 of the series after judge Craig Revel Horwood finally gave out a score of ten. Former footballer Tony Adams is the most recent celebrity to leave the show after he was forced to quit due to injury.

Tony who was partnered with Katya Jones, described his experience on the show as “emotional” adding: “I cried for the first month.”

The former sportsman said: “I came in here with one message, if you’ve got an issue with mental health then please don’t suffer in silence and reach out for help. Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot about myself in the process. I thought this ‘journey’ rubbish was nonsense, but my God the rollercoaster of emotion."
