BBC Scotland Home of the Year fans left 'speechless' as house 'robbed' of win

The newest series of BBC show Scotland's Home of the Year premiered on Monday night and the beautiful houses on display had everyone talking on social media.

The first episode was a visit to Culloden to see Rory Haigh and Eilidh Sutherland's bright and bold home called the Loch Lann House.

The second house up for the award is The Tower, a church conversion on the Black Isle which is home to Rob and Rachel Hill.

And the third and final house this episode was Lorne Cottage in Fort William, a dainty renovated cottage dating from around 1800, and owned by Ciara McCartney and Arran MacPhee.

Each was scrutinised and marked by judges, interior designer Anna Campbell Jones, architect and lecturer Michael Angus and blogger Kate Spiers, as they embark on the search for the most beautiful homes across Scotland.

As the episode aired, there were a few well-known Scottish faces taking in the beautiful sights of Scotland, and the decor inside these wonderful homes.

And entertainment reporter for STV, Laura Boyd, also tweeted: "A brilliant hour of tv on @BBCScotland tonight. @JeanJohansson on a really important, eye opening programme about Scotland and racism, then the return of #shoty Scotland’s Home of the Year."

Laura had plenty of replies to her tweet, with one Twitter user writing: "All the homes are stunning. I must get bolder with colour !!"

Laura responded to this, saying: "I want to live in all of them. The church though!"

One Twitter user was also in awe of the beautiful homes, writing: "#shoty is just so good. Proper comfort viewing for me."

Another questioned the occupancies of the contestants, saying: "Need to know what these home owners do for a living because everyone seems absolutely minted #shoty."

At the end of the episode, the winner was the Lorne Cottage, but this wasn't everyone's obvious pick, as one Twitter user said: "#shoty The tower was robbed."

Another said: "That wee cottage shouldn’t have won, hoose 3 all the way! #shoty"

But a few people were in agreement, with one writing: "I too gave it a 10 #SHOTY", and another saying, "Wowsers!!!! I'm stealing this #shoty house. Cool man."

Scotland's Home of the Year resumes on Monday, April 11 at 8:30pm on BBC One and BBC Scotland.
