BOSSES at BBC Scotland have revealed a major change to the broadcaster’s coverage of Scottish football.
The Sportscene Results show has regularly been broadcast on a Saturday and features a presenter and two pundits watching results come in from around the country.
However, it now only has a couple of weeks left to go.
The traditional football results service on BBC One Scotland will be delivered by Radio Scotland’s Open All Mics service from January 11.
A statement from BBC Scotland read: “BBC One Scotland’s traditional football results service on Saturday afternoon will be delivered by Open All Mics from January 11, taking the current Sportscene Results slot.
“The popular BBC Radio Scotland show, presented by Kenny Macintyre, gives football fans an unrivalled mix of match reports, breaking news and analysis from around the country and from the studio.
“Sportscene: Open All Mics will be available on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Sounds, BBC Sport Scotland online and BBC One Scotland every Saturday afternoon.
“The visualisation from the Open All Mics studio for BBC One Scotland will include a comprehensive on-screen results service and state-of-the-art graphics to complement the reports from around the grounds and the pundits’ analysis.
“Open All Mics has been successfully visualised and broadcast on the BBC Scotland channel at various points across this year.”
BBC Sport Scotland editor Tom Connor welcomed the news saying that the new format would “continue a high-quality service on television, radio and online with energy, excitement and in-depth analysis”.
“Across platforms, our Saturday afternoon results service will cover all the twists and turns from the matches across the country, with our leading team of sports journalists and pundits.”
