BBC's Chloe cast includes Stay Close star Poppy Gilbert leaving viewers spooked

People who’ve not long finished binge watching Stay Close on Netflix were left freaked out on Sunday night when one of the drama’s creepiest characters appeared in new BBC thriller Chloe.

Stay Close became the most talked about drama of early 2022 as viewers all over the world rushed to find out just why it was the most watched show on the streaming platform and why everyone was talking about it online.

Anyone who’s watched S tay Close can’t fail to have had a shiver sent down their spine by Poppy Gilbert in the role of Barbie, the cold blooded but at times, very camp, killer who worked alongside equally sinister partner in crime Ken.

Poppy plays the title role of Chloe in the BBC drama of the same role.

But, while she takes the part of the woman at the centre of the plot *SPOILER ALERT * it’s her death early on in episode 1 that is the foundation to the new series that kicked off on Sunday night.

Poppy in Stay Close (Netflix)

Pouring over Chloe’s social media was a big habit of her former friend Becky, meaning that pictures of actress Poppy flashed up on screen.

And it was enough to creep out BBC viewers who’d also seen Stay Close.

One tweeted: "Ken & Barbie are truly terrifying!!" and a second joking: "Disappointed that Barbie from #stayclose hasn't got her dancing shoes on in #chloe!"

A third commented: "That Barbie & Ken couple on Stay Close on Netflix freaked me out a bit."
