It is time to cwtch up and get cosy as the nights draw in and BBC's Autumnwatch is back. The series will kick off on Tuesday, October 25 and will show what is happening in nature this autumn.
The hedgerows will be full of life from animals making their nests to blackberries, rose hips, crab apples and hazelnuts growing ready for harvest. Many of our much-loved creatures take advantage of this wild harvest to build up reserves of fat for migration or for hibernation.
With an over-arching theme of ‘The Changing Face of Autumn’, Autumnwatch will present a vision of a season which has changed dramatically in the wake of climate change. The show will be based in different locations across the UK, including in Cardigan Bay in Wales.

Gillian has been presenting Autumnwatch since 2017 and studied biology at Bristol University before working for the BBC.
Where will Autumnwatch be filmed?
The series will be split across two main locations with Chris and Michaela at Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk and Iolo and Gillian at the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve and Cardigan Bay in Wales. Iolo and Gillian will be looking out for starlings performing murmurations, and wildfowl, notably teal, wigeon, mallard, sika, badgers, foxes, red kites, kingfishers and little egrets.
In the water they will be looking out for otters, water shrews, lamprey, stickleback, mullets, eel, sewin, salmon, frogs, toads and bottlenose dolphins as Cardigan Bay is Europe's largest bottlenose dolphin population. In Norfolk, Chris and Michaela will be looking at the devastating effects wildfire had on the area in the summer of 2022.
There will also be live cameras set up at Wild Ken Hill and the cameras overlooking the river will hope to catch otters, red deer and tawny owls. In the woods, the team are hoping to catch a glimpse of the five of the six species of deer found in Britain who live at Wild Ken Hill and there will be a big focus on the beavers who are building their damn in the beaver pond.
