BBC's Adele Roberts supported as she shows how cancer has 'ravaged' her body

Adele Roberts has been supported as she showed how her body has been ravaged by cancer.

The 42-year-old DJ confirmed last October she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and was receiving treatment. She was in a celebratory mood yesterday as she revealed she had reached the end of her chemotherapy.

Adele shared a short clip on her Instagram Story as she took her final round of tablets. She captioned the post: "Bye bye chemo.

"Thanks for the memories. It's been emotional."

Southport -born Adele has bravely shared details of her cancer journey and revealed on Instagram earlier this week that the condition has taken its toll on her body. She said: "I've always been embarrassed about my skin.

"I’ve struggled with it for most of my life. I’ll never forget when it first started to breakout and a lady asking me if I’d been in an accident. I was mortified… I think I’ve carried that shame with me for too long.

"Everything I’m going through at the moment has taught me it’s good to share. I’m not the only one. I’m very lucky to be on this treatment but it’s ravaged my skin a lot. I’ve shared what it’s done to my hands and feet but I was too ashamed to show you my face.

She added: "The first round of my chemotherapy was a bit strong and ended up with me looking like I’d been burned. I had holes all over my face. One day I’ll show you but I think what I’m sharing today is a big enough step for me. I don’t want to be ashamed anymore. I’m alive and I’m lucky to be on this treatment. My skin is also healing and looking SO MUCH BETTER than the start."

Adele's followers flooded the comments to send messages of support.

Lorraine Kelly said: "You are so so beautiful inside and out

Collette Cooper added: "Darling, you are beautiful regardless of any skin blemishes! That doesn’t alter your beauty in the slightest!"

Doctor Amir Khan commented: "You are beautiful inside and out."

Nicki Chapman messaged: "Beautiful beautiful girl. So proud of you. Thank you for sharing with us all"
