BBC executives have upheld a complaint after a Scottish football commentator wrongly reported that Celtic fans had punched the captain of Hearts during a pitch invasion.
Pat Nevin, the broadcaster and former Scotland international, had already corrected the mistake on more than one occasion, the BBC Executive Complaints Unit noted, but ruled that the remarks had fallen “below the BBC’s editorial standards of accuracy”.
