BBC Radio Nottingham host Mark Dennison announces he is leaving station

A popular BBC Radio Nottingham presenter has announced he will leave the corporation for some 'new adventures'. Mark Dennison has announced he will leave the station after more than 13 years, posting the news to Twitter at 11.45am on Thursday, April 27.

Mr Dennison, who hosts BBC Nottingham from 10am-2pm Monday to Friday and does the stadium announcements at Nottingham Forest's City Ground, said he would exit this summer. "Well, here goes… I’m leaving @BBCNottingham in the summer. It’s been a great 13 and a bit years at the BBC (so over 26 years on the radio in the city) but new adventures await," he said.

"Huge thank yous to producers past and present and to my amazing family their support. A heartfelt thank you if you’ve ever listened/interacted with the show - it’s very much appreciated. More details on exact dates/future stuff coming soon. Big, big love."

Mr Dennison came to Nottingham in the late 1980s to study humanities at Nottingham Trent. He then worked voluntarily for Nottingham Hospitals Radio, before working at Trent FM in the early 1990s.

He stayed at Trent FM until 2010, when he joined the BBC. During his time with the BBC, he hosted a broadcast while on a week-long trip along the Trent and canals by boat, and live from Sarajevo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Torvil and Dean’s Olympic triumph.
