BBC Proms concert to be staged in Bristol for the first time

St George’s Bristol has been announced as the city’s first ever host of a BBC Proms concert. As part of the UK-wide centenary celebrations of the BBC this year, the venue will stage a concert in August from two of classical music’s biggest names.

Violinist Alina Ibragimova and pianist Cedric Tiberghien are BBC New Generation Artists and they will perform at St George’s Bristol on August 1. Tickets go on sale in May and there will be a limited number of discounted £6 ‘Promming’ tickets released online on the morning of the lunchtime concert.

St George’s Bristol has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the BBC and as early as 1975, the BBC was broadcasting its lunchtime concerts from St George’s Bristol’s auditorium. Most recently, across Spring 2022, BBC Radio 3 and BBC New Generation Artists returned for another special series of lunchtime concerts.
