A BBC weather presenter has revealed she was forced to scrap her journey home and spend the night at work as heavy snowfall brought large parts of the country to a standstill.
With temperatures forecast to plunge as low as –12C and fresh snow expected over the next 72 hours, hazardous conditions have already led to travel disruption, abandoned vehicles and school closures across the UK.
