BBC News viewers have paid tribute to presenter Joanna Gosling as she hosted her last ever programme.
The 52-year-old presenter was left emotional as she finished up her final shift on the broadcaster, after being a part of the BBC for 23 years.
As she signed off her bulletin Joanna took a moment to thank BBC viewers for their support throughout her career.
She began: "Now it's just about time for me to say goodbye. I'm signing off after 23 years at BBC News and before I go there are just a few things that I wanted to say.
"I know this job is personal, we come directly into your home to tell you what's happening, good, bad, funny, sad. In doing my work I always consider how you might be responding to the news you're hearing and what you might want to know.
She added: "But your response to me leaving has been completely unexpected and I've been really touched by the wave of warmth and kindness from you and I want to say thank you for all your good wishes, it really has meant a lot to me."
Viewers took to Twitter to wish the presenter the best for the future, as they added Joanna would be “sorely missed” from the programme.
"Good luck to you Joanna you will be sorely missed but wishing you well for the future," said one viewer.
"You are the BBC’s greatest asset,” a second fan praised, as a third tweeted: "I’ll be very very sad to see you leave today. Love and best wishes to you always for your future plans."
Another wrote: "It is nice to see you today, my TV will not be the same when you go.”
Joanna also received a round of applause from her colleagues, after she thanked them all in an emotional farewell.
It comes after the BBC announced plans to merge the UK and international news channels, so Joanna alongside her colleagues David Eades and Tim Willcox took voluntary redundancy.
Meanwhile, there were reports that three presenters quit the show after they were told to re-audition for their current roles, which was “humiliating.”
It has been reported that the rebrand and merger of the news channel will mean a loss of over a dozen jobs for individuals at the BBC.
