BBC News presenter caught off-guard as viewers spot live on-air blunder

BBC Breakfast presenters spotted an hilarious blunder on Sunday when the camera cut to a broadcaster who was unaware she was live on-air.

Nina Warhurst and Ben Boulos were hosting Sunday's edition of the programme when the blunder took place.

On BBC Breakfast, Ben was interviewing a group of farmers when the camera suddenly cut to another studio in the BBC News building.

A reporter could be seen on screen completely unaware that they were on camera being broadcast live to BBC Breakfast viewers.

The news reader could be seen scrolling on her phone at her desk oblivious to the viewers watching her at home.

However, Ben and Nina appeared to also not be aware of the blunder as they continued on with their report without acknowledging the mix-up.

Nina said to her co-host Ben: "It's a really important cause which is a lovely thing to do - you didn't know I was bilingual, did you?"

Ben replied: "I didn't, you learn something new every day," and signing off the show, Nina added: "That's it for Breakfast for now, we'll be back tomorrow as ever from six, enjoy your day."

Picking up on the blunder, one BBC Breakfast viewer tweeted: "Feel bad for the unknowing reporter we’ve just watched get ready for the news #BBCBreakfast," while another wrote: "#bbcbreakfast You're on air, love... Put your mobile down..."

Meanwhile, Nina took to Instagram on Saturday to share her heartbreak over losing three loved ones in the space of a few months.

She posted a photograph alongside her mother and sisters in floral dresses as she captioned the post: "With my Mum [and] sisters at a memorial celebration yesterday (‘no black please’). We’ve said three big goodbyes in the last few months to people we loved very much.

“And they loved us since we were kids - guided us, made us laugh, helped us feel safe,” she continued.

“It’s been bruising having a run of grief, but made me appreciative of the support you get from the special elders of your extended village - whatever that is and whoever they are. Thank you Jacko, Sue and Mazza. I hope we pay it forward to the next lot.

"We’ve also celebrated! It’s made me realise that lots of the tears are because the right farewells are full of gratitude and are something beautiful.

“( …. a reflection of our clan; when the wake invite said ‘Carriages at 6pm,’ two of my aunties thought ‘Carriages’ was a hot venue in Bath for an after party. Yes Andrea and Jayne ! ) x” (sic)

BBC Breakfast's Nina is currently pregnant with her third child with her husband who she keeps largely hidden from social media.
